James Bond

They've changed something integral to the character! It's not James Bond anymore! Bond would never drink beer!

These and many other cries are being swept across the internet as we learn that Heineken has paid millions of dollars to have the charming British super spy sip on a cold one in the next Bond film, Skyfall.

But does it really change anything? No one is talking about changing Bond's Martini, it will remain as it always has, dry, shaken, not stirred. All that is being done here is plopping a different drink into the agent's hands for a scene or two, certainly nothing major.

I think that in this case we should take a cue from Dos Equis, and their famous "Most Interesting Man in the World" he doesn't always drink beer, but when he does, he prefers Dos Equis.

James Bond rarely drinks beer, but he is James Bond, and I'm quite sure he's tried everything at least once.

  1. A very dry Heineken would have no Vermouth, however a dry Heineken would have a dash of Vermouth. I don't know that I'd care for that, but I do not claim to share Mr. Bond's palate. He has the means to provide a substantial tip to the bartender who shakes his Heineken, so the more power to him.
